A Sound from an Empty Vessel

Image
A Sound from an Empty Vessel Hello everyone! I’m really happy that some people read this blog — even if it’s just one or two, I’m truly grateful for that. One of my friends asked me, “The violin has cousins, but does it have a mom or dad?” Well, the origin of string instruments actually starts with the bow harp . It’s similar to the harp we’re familiar with today, but in a shorter version. You could say it’s like the great-great-grandparent of modern string instruments. But now, we’re moving into a different family background — this time, we’re meeting the percussion family . Whether you agree with me or not, there’s no denying that any song with a good beat gives you a little rush of thrill! Sure, melodies are sweet and soothing, but when it comes to making your heart race with excitement — a beat a day can truly make your day brighter. So, who’s the parent behind all these thrilling rhythms? Let’s travel back in time — way back to ancient days — when percussion instruments fi...

Threads in Tension

Image
Threads in Tension Hello! I know I missed my streak, so I apologize for the delayed post. Okay, so what are we going to discuss today? Well, I’d been thinking about this blog for the past week, waiting for some idea to spark. So, what I did was jump into a new hobby—yeah, trying new things is fun! I began learning crocheting, and then the lightbulb went on: what if we talk about instruments? Yeah, that’s cool! So let’s dive into our favorite genre of instruments: " Strings!" Every time we step into a home—especially that of someone who’s really into music, or maybe at your charming friend’s place—we’re almost certain to find a string instrument. Most likely, it’ll be a guitar, violin, or veena. But why do string instruments have that special charm? Why does everyone seem to love them so much? The answer is simple: they give us a wide range of freedom to create sounds however we want. Even though a string is just tied between two knobs, it has the power to produce different to...

If Rappers could Rule the world,

If Rappers could Rule the world, Hey there! How did your Wednesday go? And most importantly, are you enjoying the blog? If you have any thoughts about it, feel free to leave a comment here! Well, one day my friend and I were discussing how life isn’t working out the way we want it to — about the hardships we’re currently facing and so on. Then my friend said, “As someone once said, ‘The future is gonna be okay!’ So don’t worry!” I asked, “Who said that?” My friend replied, “Well, one of my favorite artists said it, so I’m passing it on to you.” I said, “Well, you haven’t answered my question yet.” Then she whispered in my ear, “It’s BTS’s Suga.” You might say that anyone with a good heart can share motivational words. But the way rappers say them is different — it’s like when you’re walking down a path and suddenly a random football hits your head. You regain consciousness and start walking properly again. That’s the special effect their words have. A rap is not just about t...

Its Time to Focus

Image
Its Time to Focus  Hello, my fellow readers! It’s almost the end of the day—22:54. Today, we’re going to talk about something the nation wants to know! Recently, I’ve noticed many students wearing earphones all the time—literally 24/7. They wear them while cleaning their rooms, walking, sleeping, eating, and even while studying. Yes, studying! That’s what we’re going to talk about today: how on earth does music help you focus on studies? So let’s take a scenario. You want to study one topic for an exam, but you’ve overslept. Now you need to cover that topic in order to do well, obviously. But the place where you’re trying to study is full of loud noises. In such a situation, music or certain sounds might actually be helpful. You may ask, “Won’t it be distracting? I wanted a silent place, and now I’m playing music in my ears instead?” Well folks, there’s actually a science behind this whole drama. Our brain has a system called the Reticular Activating System (RAS) , which dec...

Meet Our Therapist

Image
Meet Our Therapist Hey! Welcome to Wednesday! And what does Wednesday stand forrr? Exactly, my fellow readers  it’s our time to tune into waves! Before I tell you what I’m going to talk about today, I’d like to start with a story. After finishing my test in college, I was waiting for the results to come out. Yeahhh, it was really exhausting and tiring as well. My friend was sitting beside me, and accidentally I saw her lock screen. It said, “I have a therapist and that is music.” If I’m quoting it right? (Friend, do correct me if I’m wrong!) And that’s how I got the title for this blog: “Meet Our Therapist!” Well, do you know who earns better than a therapist? Drum rolls ... a music composer! Just kidding  therapists do earn well, but it’s true though! Music has the ability to cure the same problems a therapist does   mental health struggles. In today’s world, where everything is spinning so fast and we’re all running like rats on a wheel, we need a break!...

Lyrics on the Stove

Image
Lyrics on the Stove Welcome back to another episode of me yapping about music. This week, we’re going to talk about one of the places where we can actually put our pickup lines to use __lyrics. I’ve noticed that people, whether online or in real life, often resonate with the words in lyrics to the point that they treat a line as their life motto. So, let’s dive into how these lyrics come to life and why people form such deep connections with them. First of all, in my point of view, a song is made up of lyrics + melody . Well, let’s say it’s like vegetable Maggi. An instrumental can be beautiful on its own—like eating plain Maggi. Lyrics, on the other hand, are like poems without an instrumental, still beautiful on their own. I mean, come on, salad has its own personality too! But there’s something magical when the vegetables and Maggi come together—it creates a taste that just hits different. And that, my friend, is a song: a magic potion that people nowadays even use in their Instagr...
